CSK batter Ajinkya Rahane salary in IPL 2023

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) completed three consecutive wins in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, with a 49-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Powered by Ajinkya Rahane’s blistering knock of 71 runs off just 29 deliveries, the Yellow Army put up a colossal 235/4 on the board in 20 overs. For his heroics, Rahane also received the Player of the Match award at the end of the game.

Earlier, in the tournament, Rahane smashed the fastest fifty (19 deliveries) of his IPL career in the 12th match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. To strenghthen the middle order, the veteran got a chance in the playing XI against the five-time champions, and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands. So far, Rahane has accumulated 209 runs in five matches of IPL 2023 at an outstanding strike rate of 199.04.

Earlier at the IPL 2022 auction, he became a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at his base price of INR 1 crore. However, the veteran failed to do wonders with his bat in the KKR jersey as he ended the 2022 season with only 133 runs in seven matches at a dismal strike rate of 103.90. Noting his non-performance, KKR parted ways with him before the IPL 2023 auction.

After getting released by Knight Riders, Ajinkya Rahane went under the hammer at the IPL mini-auction held in December 2022 in Kochi. This time, he decided to register for the auction at a base amount of INR 50 lakh. Considering his immense experience, CSK signed the 34-year-old at his base price. 

Rahane’s brilliant batting performance in the ongoing tournament has surprised a lot of league followers but this is not the first time, the right-handed batter has put up a stunning show with his bat. In the 2015 edition of the league, he became the second-leading run-getter with 540 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 130.75.
