Chennai Super Kings became five-time champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after they defeated Gujarat Titans in the summit clash of the 16th edition by five wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, May 29.
Winning the summit clash by five wickets, Chennai won the IPL 2023 in fabulous fashion, and as the celebrations ran rampant, the crowd went berserk as the MS Dhoni-led side wrote their name in the history books.
Furthermore, Chennai also visited the Thiyagaraya Nagar Thirupati Temple to conduct a special pooja for their IPL trophy. The picture of the pooja has been doing the rounds across various social media platforms.

Talking about the game, Gujarat Titans came in to bat first after losing the toss. Openers Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha provided a thunderous start to the defending champions as Gill scored 39 runs in 20 balls, whereas Saha amassed 54 runs in 39 balls. Sai Sudharshan was the star of the show for Gujarat in the first innings. The 21-year-old batter scored 96 runs in 47 balls, and his knock was crucial for Gujarat in notching up 214 runs on the board.
However, as Chennai came in to chase the target, rain disrupted play once again and the MS Dhoni-led side got a revised DLS target of 171 runs to chase in 15 overs. Coming in to bat, Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad got off to a strong start to the game as Conway scored 47 runs in 25 deliveries, whereas Gaikwad scored 26 runs in 16 balls.
Furthermore, Ajinkya Rahane (27 off 13) and Ambati Rayudu (19 off 8) played short cameos to bring their side even closer to a victory, however, it was the knocks of Shivam Dube (32 off 21) and Ravindra Jadeja (unbeaten 15 off 6) that propelled Chennai to an emphatic title victory.
