Interruptions in the flow of play at Chepauk have arguably become a normalised phenomenon. When India played Australia in the third ODI of the recently concluded three-match ODI series between the two sides there was a slight disruption in the game when a stray dog made its way onto the field of play.

Quite similarly when fans at Chepauk were desperately waiting for the Chennai versus Lucknow game to start on Monday, April 3, in the ongoing IPL a stray dog again made its way onto the playing area and the start of the game got delayed due to the same.

However, the ground staff was soon successful in chasing it away and after a brief halt to the proceedings and the game finally got underway.

Not the kind of start that the fans of the Yellow Army were anticipating but the incident surely cracked a lot of fans up in the stands as they saw the humourous side of the incident.

Not long ago, when the Rohit Sharma-led side had locked horns with the Steve Smith-led Australia at the same venue on March 22 in the ODI series decider, a similar stray dog had made its way on the field of play during the 43rd over of Australia's innings and had to be chased away by the ground staff.

Since the inception of the game, cricket matches have been stopped due to a plethora of reasons. From the most common interruption being rain delays, cricket matches have been stopped due to streakers venturing into the playing area too.

Former Australia cricketer Andrew Symonds had famously shoulder-tackled a streaker during an ODI game against India back in 2008 in a tri-series hosted in Australia. It was not the only incident when Symonds was involved with a streaker on field, a similar incident had happened earlier when he was playing for Queensland in a domestic fixture.
