India and Bangladesh are locking horns in Match 17 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Thursday, October 19 at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and elected to bat first. Indian seamers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj started the proceedings well for their side giving away only six runs in the first four overs of the innings.

The pressure even led to a close call as Bumrah managed to hit the pad of Tanzid Hasan with a searing yorker from over the wicket. However, none of the players appealed and the replays showed that the Bangladesh opener would’ve been on his way back to the pavilion as the ball tracking showed three reds. Seeing the replays on the big screen both captain Rohit Sharma and Bumrah were left disappointed.

After getting a life early on, Hasan made Indian bowlers regret it as he went on to score a brilliant half century. Playing just his ninth ODI, the 22-year-old brought up his first half century scoring 51 off 43 balls smashing five fours and three sixes in his innings. He got involved in a 93-run opening stand with Litton Das off 88 balls as India ran out of plans to stop the duo.

Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers for India

Kuldeep Yadav came in as the knight in the shining armour for the Men in Blue as he trapped him in front of the stumps to get the first breakthrough in the 15th over. Ravindra Jadeja also got into the act quickly and dismissed skipper Shanto in the 20th over to leave his side on 110/2.

Jadeja further removed the well-set Litton Das (66 off 82) in the 28th over to leave Bangladesh on 137/4 after 27.4 overs. Contributions from Mushfiqur Rahim (38 off 46) and Mahmudullah (46 off 36) helped Bangladesh reach 256/8 in their allotted 50 overs. Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers for India as he registered figures of 2/38 in ten overs while Jasprit Bumrah (2/41) and Mohammad Siraj (2/60) also picked up two wickets each.
