After India's historic T20 World Cup 2024 final triumph against South Africa in Barbados, a gesture by Rohit Sharma's mother, Purnima Sharma, has quickly drawn the attention of cricket fans. Her Instagram post, featuring an image of Rohit and Virat Kohli along with the trophy, has not only gone viral but also highlights the strong bond between these two cricketing legends.

The Indian cricket team's victory in the marquee event marked the end of a decade-long ICC trophy drought. This monumental win was made even more significant by the simultaneous retirement announcements of both Sharma and Kohli from T20 international cricket, drawing curtains on an era of their illustrious careers in this format.

Indian skipper's mother's Instagram post featured an edited photo of Rohit with his daughter Samaira on his shoulders, standing alongside Kohli. The caption read, "Daughter on his shoulders, nation on his back, brother by his side," referring to Kohli as Rohit's brother. This post quickly went viral, drawing over 36,000 likes and spreading rapidly across various social media platforms.

The image, captioned "goat duo in T20 cricket," not only celebrated India's victory but also emphasized the strong camaraderie between the two modern-day greats. This post served as a powerful reply to long-standing rumors of a strained relationship between the two cricketers.

Both Rohit and Kohli played pivotal roles in India's World Cup campaign. Rohit emerged as the tournament's second-highest scorer, while Kohli, despite a subdued performance leading up to the final, delivered a crucial innings of 76 runs in the summit clash against South Africa.

The final itself was a nail-biting encounter. India, after being reduced to 34/3, posted a competitive total of 176/7, thanks to Kohli's 76 and valuable contributions from Axar Patel and Shivam Dube. In response, Proteas managed 169/8, with Heinrich Klaasen's quick-fire 52 keeping them in the hunt. However, excellent death bowling from Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya secured India's victory.
