Australian opener David Warner continued his sensational form in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as he notched up his second consecutive hundred of the tournament against the Netherlands on Wednesday, October 25 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The southpaw played a brilliant innings of 104 off 93 balls clobbering 11 fours and three sixes as he completed 300 runs in the tournament.

After reaching the three-figure mark, the Australian opener jumped in elation and did his trademark ‘Pushpa’ celebration inspired from the Indian movie ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ starring Allu Arjun.

Watch Warner’s celebration here:

Earlier in the innings, Warner got a reprieve on 73 as he hit a low full toss in the 23rd over of the innings straight to Roelof van der Merwe at short cover. While the Dutch cricketer claimed the catch, Warner was certain that he had grounded it and expressed the same through his gestures on the pitch. The on-field umpires referred the decision to the third umpire and the replays found that Van der Merwe had grounded the ball.

Hence, Warner was allowed to continue his innings and he made full use of the reprieve. The Australian opener got involved in a massive 132-run stand for the second wicket off 118 balls as they rescued their team after they lost their opener Mitchell Marsh (9 off 15) in the fourth over.

Steve Smith finds his form back

Smith also found his form after a string of low scores as he registered his first fifty of the tournament by playing the innings of 71 off 68 balls with the help of nine fours and six. Marnus Labuschagne also played a brilliant knock of 62 off 47 balls.
