Australian cricket star David Warner expressed his admiration for Indian culture and revealed some of his personal favorites. When asked about the greatest finisher in cricket history, Warner did not hesitate to name MS Dhoni. Warner's endorsement carries weight, considering his own batting prowess. Dhoni's ability to stay calm under pressure and his remarkable finishing skills have earned him legendary status in the cricketing world.
“For me, it’s MS Dhoni,” Warner said during a rapid-fire Question-Answer session on JioCinema, when asked about the greatest finisher in cricket history. Warner also spoke about the cricketers who inspired him, mentioning Shane Warne, Ricky Ponting, and Adam Gilchrist as his idols. He wanted to emulate their playing styles, with Warne's leg spin, Gilchrist's explosive opening batting, and Ponting's all-round cricketing abilities.
"For me, Shane Warne, Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist were my idols. I wanted to play how they played the game. I wanted to be a leg spinner, Gilchrist was an opening dasher and Ricky Ponting – one of our best cricketers ever."
When asked about the Greatest of All Time (G.O.A.T) in cricket, Warner chose Jacques Kallis. The South African all-rounder is widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketers to have ever played the game.
Warner also shared his favorite innings in international cricket, highlighting his monumental 335 not out against Pakistan at Adelaide in 2019. He has produced several breathtaking performances throughout his career. "335 (not out) against Pakistan at Adelaide in 2019," he added.
In addition to cricket, Warner expressed his love for Indian culture and his desire to work with Indian film star Allu Arjun. He also revealed that if he weren't a cricketer, he would have chosen to be an astronaut.
