DC Team 2024 Player List: Complete Delhi Capitals (DC) Squad and Players List for IPL 2024

Delhi Capitals had a disastrous outing in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They finished ninth on the points table, having won only five out of the 14 matches they played. Delhi will look to come back strongly after the 2023 debacle and aim for a first IPL title.

In the last season, Delhi unfortunately missed the services of regular captain Rishabh Pant. The star Indian wicketkeeper-batter suffered a near-fatal accident about a year ago and is still recuperating from the aftereffects. However, his much-awaited return to competitive cricket is expected to take place during IPL 2024. This is a huge news for the Delhi faithful as he is not only a phenomenal player but also a fine captain. Pant is also someone who can lift the morale of a team in any situation.

One of the biggest concerns for Delhi last season was the torrid form of opener Prithvi Shaw. The aggressive right-handed batter scored just 106 runs in the eight games he played. Another player, who did well for Delhi in previous seasons, Anrich Nortje, disappointed big time with the ball as he picked up ten wickets in ten games at an economy rate in excess of nine. However, they showed faith in both the players and have retained them. David Warner's performance was the only silver lining as he finished with 516 runs in 14 games at an average of 36.86 and a strike rate of 131.63. If Shaw can find form and Pant can start from where he left off, Delhi could be one of the favourites to, at least, make the playoffs.

Delhi Capitals show affinity for wicketkeepers at IPL 2024 auction

Delhi released as many as 11 players ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Manish Pandey and Chetan Sakariya were the two capped Indian players released. Also, youngsters like Sarfaraz Ahmed, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Aman Khan, Ripal Patel, and Priyam Garg were let go of by the Delhi-based franchise. Among the overseas players, Rilee Rossouw, Phil Salt, Rovman Powell, and Mustafizur Rahman were not retained.

Delhi retained 16 players and had two wicketkeepers in Abhishek Porel and Rishabh Pant. However, there are doubts about whether Pant would take the gloves this season. The DC management might have taken that into consideration and picked up as many as four wicketkeepers in the auction. Kumar Kushagra, the 19-year-old Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batter was roped in for a whopping Rs 7.20 crore. Ricky Bhui, Shai Hope and Tristan Stubbs joined in at their respective base prices.

Talented England batter Harry Brook was picked up for 4 crore while Australian pacer Jhye Richardson joined at 5 crore. Pacer Rasikh Dar Salam, all-rounder Sumit Kumar, and batter Swastik Chikara were also signed by the franchise.
