India women’s bowlers Deepti Sharma and Titas Sadhu have made quite the leap in the ICC T20I bowler rankings. The rankings were updated on Tuesday, January 9, and both star bowlers bore the fruit of their efforts as Deepti Sharma made a four-place leap in the standings, with Sadhu climbing 50 spots.
Her jump meant that Deepti Sharma now sits in second place in the ICC T20I bowler rankings and even solidified her spot in fourth place in the all-rounder rankings as well. Sitting in second place with 723 rating points, Deepti Sharma edged past South Africa’s Nonkululeko Mlaba, who has 722 rating points to her name.
Titas Sadhu made a huge leap of 50 places and now sits in the 92nd position with 358 rating points in the bowling rankings. The major ranking change came after the players’ brilliant performances in the T20I series against Australia.
As for the batting rankings, Australia women’s skipper Alyssa Healy made her way back into the top 10 rankings, with star India batter Smriti Mandhana reclaiming her fourth-place spot.
Australia women clinch T20I series after hard-fought battle
Talking of the side’s on-field assignments, India women and Australia women took on each other in three T20Is, and every game proved to be quite the spectacle for the fans. India won the first T20I, with Australia winning the second, as the series went towards a series decider in Navi Mumbai.
Both sides faced off in the third T20I on Tuesday, December 9, and it began with the hosts batting first after losing the toss. India women got off to a good start as openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana scoring 26 and 29 runs, respectively.
Richa Ghosh added 34 runs on the board, and India posted a total of 147 runs on the board in the first innings. Aiming to chase down the target, Australia women put in a magnificent performance with the bat as Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney completed their half-centuries and won the game by seven wickets and the series as well.
