Delhi police arrest cowshed owner in 13-year-old boy's electrocution at cricket ground case

Around 10 days back, in a rather unfortunate incident, a 13-year-old boy got electrocuted in outer Delhi's Ranhola region while playing cricket. Notably, the incident happened on August 10, when the victim tried to pick a ball but ended up suffering the wrath of an electric pole's live wire which was left open.

In the aftermath, police received a call around 1:30 pm (daytime) regarding Aditya Mehto (the victim) and they tried to reach the spot in response. However, by the time the cops arrived, the condition of the victim worsened. The boy was rushed to the hospital, the doctors declared him dead. After the mother accused the foul play of the power department and the cowshed owner who was held responsible for leaving the wire connection unattended, the Delhi police finally got into the act and on Tuesday, they arrested an accused in the case.

“After the death, we asked for property documents from the owner of the cricket academy, which was being run on the ground, and the gaushala owner. It was found that the live wire was connected to the gaushala, and electricity from the pole supplied power. The owner, Rishi Pal, was questioned and subsequently arrested,” a police officer stated.
