Young emerging talent Devdutt Padikkal has been ruled out of action for the next three to four weeks due to a thumb fracture sustained during the Deodhar Trophy earlier this month.

The left-handed batter was expected to feature in the ongoing Maharaja KSCA T20 trophy for the Gulbarga Mystics but had to withdraw due to an injury. Padikkal, who has represented India in two T20Is, disclosed the details of his injury and subsequent treatment.

"I had a left-thumb fracture during the Deodhar Trophy. So, I had to undergo a minor surgery to get that fixed. I will be out of the game for probably another three to four weeks. Hopefully, I can be back on the field soon," he informed Fancode.

Recently, the young Rajasthan Royals' batter took to social media to share his recovery journey, saying, "Just a quick update. Sustained a fracture on my left thumb and had to undergo surgery. The road to recovery begins now and I'm eager to return to the field soon."

This injury comes as a blow not only to Padikkal but also to his team, Gulbarga Mystics in the Maharaja KSCA T20 trophy 2023 as his impressive performances have earned him a reputation as an integral player.

In the Deodhar Trophy final last month,  his team, South Zone, secured a commanding 45-run victory against East Zone in Puducherry, thanks to a brilliant batting performance by Rohan Kunnumal. South Zone's dominance was evident as they clinched their ninth title with an impeccable record, emerging victorious in all five of their league matches in the tournament.

Padikkal might look to target the next Indian domestic tournament, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for his comeback which is scheduled to start on October 16. As Rajasthan Royals' star batter, Padikkal embarks on his recovery journey, cricket fans, and his team are hoping for his swift return to the pitch. so that fans could watch him smashing the bowlers all around the park as usual.
