Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli made a vital investment in Go Digit general insurance in February 2020, gaining 266,667 equity shares at INR 75 each, counting an investment of ₹INR 2 crore. Virat's wife, actress Anushka Sharma, also invested in the company, purchasing 66,667 shares for INR 50 lakh.

Notably, Go Digit went public on May 23, 2024, with its IPO broading a fresh issue worth INR ₹1,125 crore and an offer-for-sale of up to 5.48 crore shares producing ₹1,489.65 crore. The IPO was met with strong claim, subscribed 9.6 times overall, including 4.27 times in the retail section, 7.24 times by non-institutional investors, and 2.56 times by qualified institutional buyers (QIBs), respectively.

With the successful IPO listing, Go Digit’s stock price rised past ₹300 per share, specifically expanding the value of Kohli’s investment. As per Hindustan Times, ₹300 per share, his ₹2 crore investment grew to the range of around INR ₹8 crore, while Anushka’s holdings rose to ₹2 crore.

Stocks plummeted by 25%, Kohli still going strong

Nevertheless, the stock market has faced ample turbulence over the last six months, with share prices of lots of companies, including Go Digit, familiarizing a decline. The company's stock has dropped by approximately 25% in the past 180 days, stirring investor portfolios. If Kohli still retained his shares, this drop has affected his net worth.

With a 25% failure from its peak, the approximate value of Kohli’s shares would now be around ₹6 crore instead of ₹8 crore. This translates to an approximate notional loss of ₹2 crore compared to its highest estimation post-listing. Despite this drop, his investment still holds a strong profit compared to his basic purchase price, showing long-term value.
