Dinesh Karthik makes a stunning comeback with a special knock in DY Patil T20 competition
After a commentary stint, Dinesh Karthik is back to the cricket field with a bang
India cricketer Dinesh Karthik staged a stunning comeback to domestic cricket by hitting a sublime 38-ball 75 in the ongoing DY Patil T20 competition in Navi Mumbai.
Dinesh Karthik has been a part of the commentary panel during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 between India and Australia. Since the second Test ended within a span of three days, Karthik utilised the time by featuring in domestic cricket competition. The wicket-keeper batter is renowned for his aggressive style of batting.
After his stupendous performance in the cash rich IPL in 2022 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Karthik was included in India's squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. But after India's humiliating defeat to England by 10 wickets, Karthik was unceremoniously dropped from the India T20 squad.
Post being sidelined from the squad, he resumed his commentary stint. Interestingly, the 37-year-old will once again be seen in the RCB jersey in the upcoming IPL 2023, scheduled to commence from March 31.
Meanwhile, the wicketkeeper-batter came into bat for DY Patil Group B encounter when they were placed at a precarious position at 66/3 against RBI. Initially, he took some time to settle down. Once he found his mojo, there was no stopping him. Karthik played a 75-run cameo off just 38 deliveries laced with six sixes and five boundaries.
DY Patil Group B finished on 186/6 in their 20 overs. RBI lost wickets at regular intervals with scoreboard reading 161/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Apart from Karthik's knock, Ali Murtaza and Shams Mulani made notable contributions for the home side.
In a series of events, Karthik is set to return to microphone duties as he will resume his commentary duties again from the third Test between India and Australia, scheduled to be played from March 1 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
