Nepal Police has bestowed a well-deserved promotion upon Dipendra Singh Airee, the cricketer who recently set the cricketing world abuzz with his stellar performance at the Asian Games. Airee's rise within the police ranks showcases not only his cricketing brilliance but also the commitment of the Nepal Police to support and celebrate outstanding athletes.
Deputy Inspector General Kuber Kadayat, who also serves as the spokesperson for Nepal Police, officially announced Airee's promotion from the rank of police constable to police assistant head constable. This decision came as a result of unanimous support and recommendation from the Policy Coordination Committee. It is a testament to Airee's extraordinary talent and dedication to the sport.
The defining moment of Airee's cricketing career came during Nepal's thrilling encounter against Mongolia on September 27. In a breathtaking display of power-hitting, Airee accomplished the feat of smashing the fastest T20I fifty ever recorded, taking just nine deliveries to reach this milestone.
This remarkable achievement broke the previous record held by India's legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who had achieved a 12-ball fifty during the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007. Airee's remarkable innings included eight huge sixes, leaving spectators and cricket enthusiasts in awe.
Notably, Airee's strike rate of 520 during this T20I innings of 10 or more balls stands as a new benchmark in the world of cricket. The previous record was held by Malcolm Waller, with a strike rate of 430, achieved during a ten-ball innings in Zimbabwe's domestic T20 competition against Matabeleland Tuskers in 2016.
Airee's outstanding contributions to the sport have not only brought him personal success but have also earned the admiration and respect of cricket enthusiasts worldwide. Alongside Airee, several other talented cricketers, including Kushal Bhurtel, Aarif Sheikh, Lalit Rajbanshi, Karan KC, and Gulshan Jha, proudly represent the Nepal Police, reaffirming the force's commitment to nurturing and promoting sporting excellence.
Dipendra Singh Airee's journey is not only a testament to his talent but also a source of inspiration for aspiring cricketers across Nepal.
