Disney+, the official maker of the Andrew Flintoff documentary, has finally confirmed the release dates for the story. Directed by John Dower and titled Flintoff the documentary for the former England cricketer is set to go on air starting April 25.
The documentary is set to explore the impact of the cricketer's horrific car crash while filming for Top Gear in 2022, a motoring show by BBC. It will obviously delve into the star all-rounder's illustrious cricketing career prior to the incident as well, including his instrumental role in a couple of Ashes wins for England against age-old rivals, Australia.
Notably, Flintoff himself is a co-producer for the film alongside Andrew Mackenzie and Naomi Templeton. Sean Doyle is the executive producer for the film, spanning roughly ninety minutes in length. The all-rounder revealed that cricket had been a massive part of his life. He admitted that since the accident, it had meant to him why a sporting career was influential in the Lancashire-born's life.
“Cricket’s always been a massive part of my life, shaping who I am. Looking back on the highs and the lows, including the challenges I’ve faced since my accident, has been a real reminder of why my career in the sport has meant so much,” said the 47-year-old as quoted by Express UK.
The vehicle crash left the ex-English international with facial and rib injuries and has made a slow return in front of the public. The Preston-born player rejoined the England cricket team’s backroom staff for their T20 series against the West Indies last year and was named as the head coach for the England Lions in September 2024.

Speaking of the cricketer's other ventures, in 2024, Flintoff hosted a Christmas special of darts-themed ITV quiz show Bullseye and Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams On Tour, which saw him take a group of young people from his home town on a cricketing tour of India. Flintoff is said to have entered a financial settlement with BBC for EU 9 million.
