"Do you want me to retire?" Nabi darted back at a Journalist at the renowned Premadasa Stadium after rains played possums on Friday, which affected his team's practice session.

"For how long I want to continue my cricket? Still my body is working and I am running fast. I am fielding in the boundary taking catches well and doing bowling well. Still I am doing well and I am trying to keep myself (fit) for as long as possible," he was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Furthermore, Mohammad Nabi revealed that the upcoming Champions Trophy will be his last in the 50-over format and may push his case by an year or so ahead. Besides, he also shared his secret to longevity in international cricket. Notably, the willy spinner has been playing for the spirited Afghan side since year 2008. he credits a strict dietary regime for him extending his cricketing days for this long. Hence, it keeps him hopeful that he will be able to play in the next T20 World Cup which is scheduled for 2026.
"Afghanistan team needs me as well at this stage but still may be Champions Trophy will be my last Champions Trophy in 50-over( format) and after that maybe one year and that's it," the veteran offspinner continued.
"I am not young as I am forty year old man. Still I try my best to train hard and do my recovery as quickly as possible and it all depends on your food and how you eat. How you eat clean and good food as it makes you more fit," Nabi stated.

Besides, Nabi also reflected on Afghanistan's performance in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024 edition. the allrounder believes that the team did incredibly well as they qualified for the semifinals for the first time which was an encouraging sign for the future. Moreover, Afghanistan also managed to beat big teams which speaks volumes of every player's contribution.
"Afghanistan T20 performance (in the World Cup) was really good. We beat big teams in the tournament. Yeah, first time in semi-final and in the tough four and that was a great achievement in my cricket life and hopefully more to come. As a team we played and performed in the World Cup and everyone contributed a lot in this World Cup," Nabi concluded.
