While star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took home the plaudits for his mind-boggling cameo that sealed Chennai Super Kings' fifth IPL title, Kiwi opener Devon Conway was named the Player of the Match for his decisive knock at the top of the innings during a thrilling chase. The southpaw hailed it as the 'greatest win' of his career at the post-match presentation.

It was a lengthy wait for CSK openers, Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad after a heavy downpour interrupted the second innings. With the second innings being reduced to 15 overs, both batters had only thing on their minds and that was to attack the Gujarat bowlers from the get-go, putting the pressure back on the home side.

Conway, who was the aggressor during his belligerent opening stand with Gaikwad, smashed 47 runs off just 25 deliveries before falling to Noor Ahmad. Although his innings laid the foundation for a historic victory, the Kiwi star revealed being nervous in the dressing room during their rain delay. He also thanked former Aussie batter Mike Hussey, who enjoyed a similar role for the franchise during the latter's playing days.

"It was a long time to wait, very nervous but Rutu (Gaikwad) and I plotted how we'll go about it. Personally, is the greatest win in my career. IPL final, doesn't get bigger than that. Lot of credit to Mike Hussey, fellow left-handed player. Nice to be in his shoes," Conway said after the match.

Devon Conway finishes the season on a high

The 31-year-old batter was one of the most consistent performers in this year's tournament, finishing the season with 672 runs to his name, the third most this season behind Gujarat Titans' Shubman Gill and Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis. His consistency with the bat along with his impeccable partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad at the top of the order was one of the driving forces behind CSK's triumph in the 16th edition of the tournament.
