There have been several cases of fast bowlers being introduced to high-octane franchises and white-ball cricket far too soon. The outcome has been similar in most scenarios, with individuals losing steam or getting injured too frequently due to insufficient exposure to the longest format. The narrative with Mayank Yadav has been quite the same. After bursting onto the scene in the Indian Premier League, Mayank impressed with his blistering pace. However, there has been a list of injuries that have kept him out of contention for quite some time.
Former Australian cricketer, Brad Hogg, spoke of Mayank and the tendency of young Indian fast bowlers to become complacent after receiving high bids from the IPL.
“He’s [Mayank Yadav] is injury-prone because he’s young. I’m looking at his First-Class stats, he’s only played one FC game. So, he hasn’t played too much of the longer format as well. I think it’s just sheer pace with Mayank Yadav. There are a couple of other bowlers that are very similar to him that bowl 145-150-plus, but I think with young Indian bowlers coming through, they bowl that pace. Sometimes, they are thinking right, just bowl sheer pace, 'if I can get an IPL contract, I’m happy. The end',” shared Hogg on his YouTube channel.

They haven’t been trained for that endurance factor: Hogg
Hogg further blamed the cash-rich environment for pacers for lacking the crucial component of durability in their gameplay.
“Once they get that IPL contract, everything falls out of the window. They don’t learn how to play the longer form of the game. They don’t know how to bowl within themselves, they don’t have that endurance factor. They haven’t been trained for that endurance factor,” added Hogg.
Interestingly, India have had a history of fast bowlers breaking down way too soon. There have been very few instances of bowlers surviving a stint as long as Zaheer Khan or Ishant Sharma. As for Mayank, he last featured in the T20I series against Bangladesh last year.
