With two consecutive losses at the hands of Scotland and Australia, England are on the verge of elimination from the T20 World Cup 2024. To make it to the Super 8 round, they need to beat Oman and Namibia by a heavy margin and will also have to depend on other results. England are desperate for a victory and is likely to come hard at Oman in their next match.

Ahead of the clash in Antigua, skipper Jos Buttler clarified that his players are not consumed by the idea of thrashing Oman but want to pick up a win to remain alive in the competition. The keeper-batter mentioned that the team is aware of what needs to be done and will leave no stone untouched to achieve that.

“I don't think it's s**t or bust quite yet. I think it's quite clear what we need to do and how we need to play. First and foremost, we need to win the game against Oman to have any chance going forward into the next one. So we have to earn the right to try and win the game. And if we can get ourselves in a position to affect our net run-rate, obviously that's what we need to do,” Buttler was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

“That’s the situation we find ourselves in, so we have to be aware of that but not be consumed by it. If we try and do that bit first, forget about trying to win the game and lose, then you’ve got no chance anyway. I’d rather have some kind of chance going into the last game and know exactly what we need to do,” he added.

Buttler also cleared that he is not feeling the heat and he cares more about the people in the dressing room than those outside. England failed to put up a show in the ODI World Cup 2023 and an elimination from the first round of the T20 World Cup could place Buttler’s captaincy under threat.
