Bangladesh are currently preparing to face Pakistan in the first Test match on August 21. Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has expressed confidence in veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan's ability to maintain focus despite recent political unrest in their home country.
Bangladesh has been experiencing significant political turmoil, with Prime Minister Hasina Sheikh resigning and fleeing the country following protests against the reservation system.
Shakib, a key player in the national cricket team, was also a Member of Parliament in the now-dissolved government. Despite losing his political position, the all-rounder has made himself available for all international matches.
"I don't think it will affect him because he's a professional cricketer, and we all treat him as such. He has played this game for so long that he knows his role and how to prepare himself. I am not thinking about his political career, and I hope he will do something special in this series," Shanto said during the pre-match press conference.

We are really excited to perform well in these conditions: Najmul Hossain Shanto
The political situation in Bangladesh has put an obstacle in the team's preparations. In addition to addressing the political aspects, Shanto discussed the team's strategy for the Test match. With Pakistan naming an all-seam attack, the visitors are carefully considering their bowling options.
"In the last couple of years, we have had a very good fast bowling unit. We also have three or four quality spinners, so we've covered all aspects. Tomorrow, when we come to the ground, we'll assess the wicket and finalize the team. But as you mentioned, the seamers get a bit of an advantage here, and they are really excited to perform well in these conditions," the skipper said.

Bangladesh have so far won just one Test match in the World Test Championship cycle and currently finds themselves at the eighth spot in the standings. The Bangladesh skipper also opened up about the impact of Toss in the match.
"The toss is very important. The players are ready for both batting and bowling, but it's crucial. Personally, I am not thinking about the toss because, as players, we have to be ready for every single situation," he concluded.
