Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have some finest players in their women’s team including the star all-rounder Ellyse Perry. The Smriti Mandhana-led side has not received the results they would've desired in the inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023 till now.
Mandhana and Co. have lost in the two games they have played so far. They started their campaign with a 60-run loss against Delhi capitals. Having started the next game on a positive note, they, however, came crashing down losing wickets in regular intervals and eventually fell short in their second match against Mumbai Indians. Their bowlers were of little help in improving their situation.
After two consecutive losses, they will next face Gujarat Giants, who are also searching for their maiden win.
During a Q&A session with RCB, the Australian all-rounder was asked a tricky question to choose between former India skippers Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. In a video shared by RCB on YouTube, the cricketer was asked to pick one between the two as her opening partner. In response, the 32-year-old gave a witty reply, stating that she would pick both and bench herself to watch them play.
Question: Who would you pick as the opening partner, Kohli or Dhoni?
Ellyse Perry: I will pick both of them to open together so I can watch from outside.
Perry won ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 with Australia in February
RCB are sitting second from the bottom of the points table after losing the first two games of the first-ever WPL season. They have a huge task ahead of them to finish in the top three and make it to the next round of the tournament. After sustaining losses against Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, RCB will next face Gujarat Giants on Wednesday, March 8, the only team that sit behind them on the points table.
Perry hasn't done much in the two matches of RCB, scoring 31 and 13 respectively. She is also yet to pick a wicket for the franchise in the two games. The 32-year-old was part of the Meg Lanning-led Australian team that won the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 earlier in February. With the win, Australia completes a famous three-peat of T20 titles. Australia defeated the hosts South Africa by 19 runs to claim their sixth T20 World Cup title.
