Emotional Mohammed Shami opens up on relationship with daughter Aaira
"Who doesn't miss their kids and family. Obviously, there are situations where not everything is in your hands," Shami said.
Apart from performing to the peak of his powers for the Indian team, star pacer Mohammed Shami is a man of many talents. However, it has been Shami’s personal life that has often come forward as a hindrance to the 33-year-old’s career.
Recently, Shami opened up about the relationship that he has with his daughter, Aaira. He revealed that his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan, does not allow Aaira to speak to him very often.
Shami opined that he misses his daughter a lot and that no one can leave their own blood behind. He also revealed that he only talks to his daughter when his wife allows it to happen.
"Who doesn't miss their kids and family. Obviously, there are situations where not everything is in your hands. But if you ask me do I miss her (daughter), no one can leave their own blood," Shami told News18.
"I do speak to her sometimes. All depends on her, if she (Hasin Jahan) allows I talk to her. I haven't visited her yet. I just want to wish her good health and a lot of success. Whatever is going on between her mother and me, that shouldn't matter. I make sure that she is living a healthy life," he added.
Shami still in doubt to make international return soon
Speaking of Shami’s on-field assignments, the ace pacer is yet to feature for India since the conclusion of the ODI World Cup 2023. After his heroic performances in the tournament, Shami has not been playing for India due to an injury.
He went on to miss the subsequent home series against Australia and Afghanistan, as well as the tour of South Africa earlier in 2024. Furthermore, he has missed the first two Tests of the series against England and is doubtful of making a return in the remaining games as well.
There is no doubt that Shami is one of the most important players for India across formats, and his return to the side will surely boost the side’s chances of succeeding in their forthcoming assignments.
