England Cricket Team will miss skipper Ben Stokes and pacer Brydon Carse in the upcoming Test series against India and the Ashes as well, since both are likely to not be in contention for a selection following their respective injuries. In order to keep themselves fit for whatever lies further ahead, the duo is said to be not taking part in the all-important assignments in the near future.
Earlier in December 2024, the experienced all-rounder sustained a hamstring injury and continues to track well with his recovery. Durham's head coach Ryan Campbell, informed that Stokes has been preparing well for England's busy season and will be missing out on the Zimbabwe series as well, which is scheduled for May.
"My expectation is that it'll be zero - anything else is an added bonus. They're coming back from serious injuries. The facts are they need to get up and running by the time the Test matches start," said Campbell, as quoted by ICC's official website.
"He's here nearly every single day working his butt off. The guy had hamstring surgery and was in the next day lifting weights, which I couldn't believe. He's such a hard-working bloke. He'll do whatever it takes to be up and running for England," added Campbell.
Stokes has led England to many famous victories against Australia and India in the past. In his absence, England are missing out on one of the best all-rounders and a solid skipper as well.

Brydon Carse to miss upcoming series for England
On the other hand, Brydon Carse sustained a foot injury before the Champions Trophy 2025 and was ruled out of the tournament. He made his debut against India and showcased a brilliant performance in the series. However, he is still trying to recover from his injury.
Coach Campbell also spoke about Carse and mentioned that they had been aware of his foot issues for a year. However, he needs to be extremely fit to have a long-lasting Test career in the future.
"We've known about his foot problems for a year now. It's not new, but he needs to get it right if he's going to be playing a lot of Test cricket. If we look at it, then I think Brydon Carse is probably the No.1 priority for England right now with what he's shown in Test cricket. He's born for that sort of stuff," said Campbell.
