England players don't waste balls, they play T20 cricket like T20 cricket: Nikhil Chopra
England put in an impressive all-round display to record a 10-wicket win to reach the finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 tournament by defeating India in the semi-final on November 10.
India suffered a heavy defeat against England in the second semi-final clash of the T20 World Cup 2022 at Adelaide Oval on Thursday (November 10). Rohit Sharma's men managed to score a challenging total of 168/6 while batting first, but English openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales proved too strong for the inconsistent Indian bowlers. Both the batters smashed quick half-centuries to chase the target with 10 wickets and four overs remaining.
While the Indian team seemed low on confidence, the English side put a perfect performance to progress to the final. England suffered a shock defeat against Ireland in the Super 12 Group 1 fixture and won their last game against Sri Lanka with just two balls remaining. Their wins against Afghanistan and New Zealand were not convincing but against India, they put their best performance in the tournament so far.
England missed their in-form pacer Mark Wood, who took nine wickets from the four group-stage matches, however, their bowlers ensured to restrict India to moderate total. Then Buttler and Hales extended their good form with their best performance to break Indian bowlers' confidence from the start.
England have a caliber and a batting power to chase the 190-run targets: Nikhil Chopra
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Nikhil Chopra also praised England for a deserving win and termed them a modern-day cricket team. He pointed out how easily England chased a big target against Indian and stated that they have the calibre to even chase big totals of around 190 runs.
"England have a calibre and a batting power to chase the 190-run targets. Because they are in very good mental place right now. England have a long batting lineup with Phil Salt, Liam Livingstone, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes, and Moeen Ali, and all maintain a strike rate above 140. England batters don't waste many balls as they play modern-day T20 cricket with an eye on strike rate," Chopra said on BatBricks7 Run Ki RunNeeti post-match show on CricTracker.
