England's Sophie Ecclestone becomes fastest woman to pick 100 ODI wickets

England's talismanic left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone created history as she became the fastest woman to pick 100 ODI wickets during the home series against Pakistan.

Ecclestone bagged six wickets from three matches at a mind-boggling average of 6.83 and a strike rate of 14.17. She had an economy rate of just 2.89. England won the three-match series 2-0 after the second game ended without a result. The 25-year-old was fittingly awarded Player of the Series for her remarkable performance.

In the third ODI in Chelmsford, the hosts set a stiff target of 303 on Wednesday, May 29. In reply, Pakistan were rolled over for 124, with Ecclestone finished with figures of 3/15 in 4.1 overs. After the pacers did the damage upfront, Ecclestone finished wrapped up the innings by taking the wickets of Aliya Riaz, Umm-e-Hani and Nashra Sandhu.

She has reached the 100-wicket mark after bowling in 63 matches. The Chester-born beat the previous record held by Australian fast bowler Cathryn Fitzpatrick, who took 64 innings to get to three-figure mark. After reaching the milestone, Ecclestone said that she isn't good with the numbers but hopes to continue performing and winning more games for her nation.

"The girls know I'm not good with numbers, I'm not good with stats. But it's amazing and hopefully it can continue. I think the best thing for me is to enjoy it, and I play in the best team for enjoying it," Ecclestone was quoted as saying by Deccan Herald.

Natalie Sciver-Brunt's magnanimous unbeaten century highlights England's winning run

Earlier in the day, Nat Sciver-Brunt scored a blistering century as the Pakistan bowlers looked amid the onslaught. The star all-rounder walked out to bat at No. 4 in the 11th over and remained unbeaten on 124 off 117 balls. Notably, her magnificent knock comprised 14 fours and two sixes, respectively.

Meanwhile, Maia Bouchier, Danielle Wyatt, and Alice Capsey also made handy contributions to help the home side get past the 300-run mark. England captain Heather Knight failed to impress with the bat in the two completed games but she would be happy with how her team fared in the series.
