In a significant development for Afghan cricket, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced that the seventh edition of the Etisalat Ghazi Amanullah Khan List A Tournament will be held for the first time in Kunduz.

This event marks a crucial step in the expansion of cricket across the country, bringing top-tier domestic competition to new regions of the country. The tournament, set to begin on July 10, 2024, at the Kunduz Cricket Ground, represents a major milestone in Afghanistan's cricketing journey. Sayed Naseem Sadaat, Spokesperson and Public Relations Officer of the ACB, highlighted the importance of this event in an interview with The Kabul Times.

Furthermore, he also emphasized that the tournament's records will be officially registered with the International Cricket Council (ICC). Notably, four teams will compete in this year's tournament, Maiwand Champions, Pamir Legends, Mahipar Stars, and Hindukush Strikers. The event will follow a double round-robin format, with a total of 13 matches scheduled over 16 days. The finals are scheduled for July 25.

The decision to host the tournament in Kunduz aligns with the ACB's strategy to decentralize cricket and nurture talent across different regions of Afghanistan. This move is expected to inspire local communities and pull out new cricketing talents from the area.
