England all-rounder Jacob Bethell was roped in by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 2.60 crore. The talented cricketer is currently in India, as he is part of England's squad that is playing a three-match ODI series against the Men in Blue. He was also a part of the T20I series which preceded the ODIs.

Bethell said that he is overwhelmed with the love and support he has received in India. The 21-year-old recently shared the experience of being cheered on by RCB fans at every venue he has been to so far in India. He also expressed his excitement as he is about to share the dressing room with some very big names in international cricket during the 18th edition of the IPL, including former India skipper Virat Kohli.

“RCB is a great franchise, and I've felt the love over here. Every ground I've been to, as soon as I walk onto the pitch, they start chanting: RCB, RCB. There's definitely a lot of support. To play along with the likes of players like that would be really cool,” Bethell was quoted as saying by The Daily Mail.

Bethell, who is in his first season in international cricket, has been used primarily as a batting all-rounder by the Three Lions. However, the Barbados-born considers himself as a genuine all-rounder, who can win games for his team with the ball.

“I see myself as a genuine all-rounder. Whenever, I get the chance to bowl and state my claim, and put us in a good position, I will. It's a massive part of my package,” he added.

Bethell was one of England's best performers in the first ODI in Nagpur on Thursday. He scored a gutsy half-century and also picked up the wicket of a rampaging Shreyas Iyer. The tourists lost the match by four wickets and will need to win the second ODI on Sunday to stay afloat in the series.
