'Every team to add tournament logo to their jerseys' - ICC reacts to India rejecting host nation's name on team jersey
"BCCI is bringing politics into cricket, which is not at all good for the game," a PCB official said earlier.
The upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 got embroiled in a controversy even before its commencement, with the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) reportedly refusing to display the host nation’s name, Pakistan, on the Indian team’s jerseys. This decision has triggered a response from the International Cricket Council (ICC), emphasizing the need for all participating teams to follow the tournament protocols.
As per ICC regulations, all teams are required to feature the tournament logo, which includes the name of the host nation, on their jerseys. While the matches involving Team India are set to take place in Dubai due to security concerns, the original host for the tournament remains Pakistan. According to reports, the BCCI refused to display Pakistan's name due to political tensions between the two countries.
"It is the responsibility of every team to add the tournament logo to their jerseys. All teams are obligated to comply with this rule," an ICC official said as per A-Sports.
PCB has fulfilled all hosting obligations
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has denied receiving any official communication from the BCCI regarding the issue. However, the PCB has called on the ICC to ensure equal treatment for all teams. The PCB has worked diligently to fulfill its hosting obligations, including securing necessary clearances for Indian players and officials.

Meanwhile, there is uncertainty about Indian Captain Rohit Sharma's attendance at the opening ceremony in Karachi. Traditionally, the ceremony involves captains of all participating teams, but the BCCI has yet to confirm Sharma’s travel plans.
“This includes Rohit or any other Indian team player or official or board official. This is in line with the usual protocols and since the opening match is on the 19th the opening ceremony can be expected either on the 16th or 17th," a source said earlier.
