Team India finally ended their 11 years of ICC trophy drought and clinched their second T20 World Cup title, defeating South Africa by seven runs in a nail-biting final in Barbados on June 29.

The 2024 T20 World Cup was a rollercoaster of emotions for the Indian cricket team and its supporters. Facing tough competition from cricketing powerhouses worldwide, India's journey to the final was nothing short of spectacular.

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla hailed the victory as a great achievement, emphasizing the significance of the win for Indian cricket.

"Everybody is happy because it's a great achievement to win the ICC T20 World Cup after defeating South Africa and many countries. I would like to give credit to all the players, team management, and BCCI officials. They landed here today in a private chartered plane of Air India and now they'll be heading for Mumbai and there will be reception," he said as quoted by the Economic Times.

The team's return to India was delayed due to Hurricane Beryl, a category four storm that hit Barbados, forcing the closure of Grantley Adams International Airport for three days. BCCI secretary Jay Shah organized a special chartered Air India flight to bring the victorious team, along with support staff, families, and media personnel, back to Delhi on July 4.

As the nation celebrates this monumental victory, the Indian cricket team's triumphant return has been marked by a series of events. Upon landing in New Delhi, the players were greeted by thousands of enthusiastic fans.

The team then left to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for breakfast at his residence, donning specially designed 'Champions' jerseys to commemorate their achievement. The celebrations are set to continue with an open-top bus parade in Mumbai later in the evening, allowing fans to share in the joy of this historic win.
