‘Everyone is excited’ - Harmanpreet Kaur talks about team's mood ahead of T20I series against Australia
“As a cricketer, even if we are not playing international matches, we are getting match practice, so I don't think it is too much cricket," Harmanpreet said.
India women are all set to continue their ongoing multi-format series against Australia women by facing off in a three-game T20I series. Both sides have already faced off in a one-off Test match and a three-game ODI series as well. However, the side will now be shifting its focus to the shorter format.
It is worth noting that both sides will take on each other in three T20Is scheduled on January 5, 7, and 9, respectively. After losing the ODI series, the hosts will be more motivated than ever to do better in the upcoming matches. Ahead of the first T20I, India women’s skipper Harmanpreet Kaur came forward to reflect on how excited the entire side is for the upcoming matches and how everyone is in mode for the shorter formats and is ready to take on the Aussies.
“As a cricketer, even if we are not playing international matches, we are getting match practice, so I don't think it is too much cricket but throughout the last month, there has been only one game where we have not been up to the mark but otherwise we have played really good cricket,” Harmanpreet said in the pre-match press conference.
“Many players have put in excellent performances so I don't feel that one odd game is going to decide how the side is feeling mentally and physically, but we just finished the team meeting and everyone is looking very positive and everyone is in T20 mode and are excited over how important the T20 series is for us,” she added.
India women seek redemption after ODI series loss
With the T20I series right around the corner, Harmanpreet Kaur-led India will be desperate to do better in the upcoming matches, as they will be coming into the series after a clean sweep in the three-game ODI series.
The Indian team had got off to a good start by winning the only Test but got themselves derailed in the 50-over format as they suffered a heart-breaking series clean sweep defeat at the hands of Australia. Hence, now moving on, they will be keen on doing better in the T20I series.
