In a confident move ahead of the crucial third T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand in Dunedin, the Shaheen Afridi-led side has unveiled their playing XI a full 24 hours before the highly anticipated clash. Despite trailing 0-2 in the five-match series, Pakistan have opted for a strategic shake-up, making three significant changes to their lineup.

Aamer Jamal, Usama Mir, and Abbas Afridi find themselves out of the playing XI as Pakistan look to turn the tide in their favour. The absence of Abbas Afridi is due to a low-grade abdominal wall muscle strain, making way for the inclusion of Mohammad Wasim Jr. Meanwhile, the underperforming Usama Mir has been replaced by Mohammad Nawaz, who brings his all-round skills to the table.

One notable omission is Aamer Jamal, despite his commendable performance in Test matches. The decision stems from Jamal being the most expensive bowler for Pakistan in this T20I series, boasting an economy rate of 12.12. In his place, the T20I specialist Zaman Khan has been drafted into the lineup, adding depth and versatility to the team. The changes indicate a proactive approach by the Pakistan Cricket Team, addressing concerns and aiming to level the series against the formidable New Zealand side.

New Zealand outplayed Pakistan in second T20I

New Zealand secured a commanding 2-0 lead in the T20I series against Pakistan, clinching a 21-run victory in the second encounter. Despite a solid start by Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman, who both notched half-centuries, the tourists faltered in their run chase, bowled out for 173 in the final over, chasing New Zealand's 194.

The triumph, however, came at a price for the Black Caps, as captain Kane Williamson retired hurt due to a hamstring injury while batting, casting doubt on his participation in the remainder of the five-match series. The second T20I possessed the aggressive batting display seen in New Zealand's previous 46-run win in Auckland, led by Finn Allen at the top order.

Pakistan playing XI for third T20I against New Zealand:

Mohammad Rizwan, Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Azam Khan (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Shaheen Afridi (c), Mohammad Wasim Jr, Zaman Khan, Haris Rauf.
