Former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis recently named three players that he would certainly have in his list of ‘All-Time XI’. Since his international debut in 2011 for the Proteas, Faf du Plessis has played alongside some of the finest cricketers and shared the dressing room with players in the domestic leagues around the world as well.
In ESPNcricinfo’s special segment named ’25 questions,’ Faf took the hot seat and answered a wide array of questions. Some of his replies turned out to be highly amusing and intriguing. The flamboyant right-hander was asked about the three players who would make it to his all-time XI and the batter took some time to ponder before revealing the names.
“Rashid Khan, AB de Villiers and Lasith Malinga,” responded the former Proteas skipper.
There is a lot of bonhomie that exists when players share dressing rooms, such is the case with De Villiers and Faf who played together for the national side. Furthermore, Du Plessis' picks don't come across as a surprise as they are highly regarded around the world for the kind of impact they have created.
His all three picks have made a name for themselves both in the international and the franchise circuit and are indeed rare breeds.
I would have liked to be a surfer: Faf du Plessis
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper also revealed during the show that he would have considered taking up surfing as a career option if not cricket.
“I’m not great at it (surfing), but I would have liked to be a surfer. That is quite a nice lifestyle, you just go around the world and you surf beautiful waves. I mean, it does not sound glamourous but in my head, it would be something quite cool to do for a living,” said Du Plessis when he was asked about potential career options other than cricket.
Meanwhile, Faf is all set to lead the Joburg Super Kings franchise in Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) new top-tier league - the SA20 which is scheduled to commence on January 10.
