‘Feeling great’ - Deepak Chahar reflects on being roped in by Mumbai Indians
"Feeling great going from one great franchise to another franchise. I think Mumbai suits swing and my style and there's some seam movement," Chahar said.
The IPL (Indian Premier League) 2025 mega auction has seen some major shifts in the squads of the sides. Several big names like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and many more have been roped in by different franchises, and the same was the case for India bowler Deepak Chahar.
The star pacer, who has represented Chennai Super Kings for several years, was roped in by Mumbai Indians in the auction on Monday, November 25. The five-time champions acquired the services of Chahar for INR 9.25 crore.
Chahar has played 81 games in the IPL so far and has managed to take 77 wickets in the process and has maintained an economy of 7.98 as well. Talking about his move to Mumbai Indians, Chahar took centre stage and revealed how delighted he was to have joined the side.
"Feeling great going from one great franchise to another franchise. I think Mumbai suits swing and my style and there's some seam movement. So, good to be part of this franchise. All good. Whatever role the team gives me I will do it. I just want to win the trophy. At CSK, I didn’t get much opportunity to bat but with the Indian team, I’ve done well with the bat,” Chahar told the broadcasters.

Mumbai Indians in search of their sixth IPL title
Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians have been quite unlucky in the recent seasons of the tournament. The side had announced that star India all-rounder Hardik Pandya would be leading the side in the IPL 2024, replacing veteran Rohit Sharma in the role.
However, the side had a tough season under Hardik’s leadership. With 14 matches played, MI only managed to win four games and lose the remaining 10. The team finished in last place in the standings with eight points to their name. However, with some big money signings, Mumbai will hope for an improved season in 2025.
