Five local cricketers from Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) have been called up by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) to conduct a trial cam in Delhi. The prominent franchise is also holding several trial camps to shortlist domestic players from the J&K territory.
To note, these five cricketers were picked during a trial held by DC in Srinagar. Around 50 local talents from J&K took part in those trials. The main trial camp will begin on October 26 and will continue for the next day as well.
The finalist of IPL 2020 has selected batters Shubham Khajuria and Jiyaad Magrey. In pace department, they have selected Sharukh Dar and Mujtaba Yousuf. Apart from the above four, Abid Mushtaq a spin all-rounder has also been named for the trials. He has been in great form recently in the domestic circuit.
While Shubham has been a part of the J&K team for the past many years, he has also represented India at the Under-19 level. He also performed well in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign for J&K, Khajuria played some decent knocks. Magrey, on the other hand, is a rising talent and has the potential of being a match-winner for his side.
Sharukh Dar has been a local star and is often compared with the Indian express pacer Umran Malik. Dar has been a part of several IPL franchises as a net bowler. Similarly, Mujtaba Yousuf did extremely well for J&K in the SMAT 2022. He has also been part of a couple of IPL franchises as a net bowler.
Speaking about Abid Mushtaq, the left-handed batter can strike big with the bat and is more than a handy spinner. He also performed reasonably well for his side in the SMAT 2022, despite the team not doing so well in the tournament as they failed to reach the knockout stages.
