Former Australian fast bowler, Nathan Bracken, who once turned down a lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) offer, has made a surprising career switch years later. Bracken, known for his flowing run-up and long locks, was part of Australia's golden era during the 2000s.

His ability to swing the ball both ways and the art of slower deliveries made him a nightmare for batters, particularly in limited-overs cricket. The left-arm pacer represented Australia in 140 international matches across formats. During these appearances, he claimed 205 wickets in total.

In 2011, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) picked him up for a whopping INR 1.3 crore in the IPL auction. However, Bracken declined the offer, choosing to stay away from the glitz and glamour of the world's most lucrative T20 league. Fast forward to the present day, and Bracken's life has taken a unique turn.

Bracken attempted political aspirations earlier in 2023

The 46-year-old, once the second-fastest Australian to reach 100 ODI wickets (behind only Shane Warne and Dennis Lillee), is now reportedly working as an Account Manager. In 2023, he even tried his hand at politics, running as a Liberal candidate for The Entrance electorate. While this venture didn't lead to a long-term political career.

Notably, Bracken took an early retirement from cricket in 2011. His decision to let go of the IPL opportunity are rooted in suffering injuries that affected the latter part of his career. These setbacks forced him to hang up his boots prematurely.
