Four players including manager injured as Baroda women's cricket team bus hits lorry in Vizag
Four players and the manager have sustained injuries after the Baroda women's team's bus hit a lorry in Vizag on Friday, October 21.
In a shocking incident, the Baroda women's cricket team met with an accident on Friday, October 21 when their team bus had a collision with a lorry. The unfortunate incident has ended up injuring four of the cricketers and the team manager.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the extent of the injury is not serious and all the injured people are safe. According to reports, the accident took place at the Tatichetlapalem National Highway in Visakhapatnam.
Baroda women's cricket team meet with an accident
The Baroda women's players were traveling in the bus after finishing the senior women's T20 games and that is when this tragic incident took place as the bus reportedly hit the lorry when it suddenly halted.
As soon as the local police received an information regarding this accident, they reached the spot immediately and the injured people were taken to the nearest hospital.
Meanwhile, the Senior Women's T20 Trophy 2022 kicked off on October 11 and the 26-day tournament will conclude on November 5. Railways are the defending champions.
Baroda are placed in Group C along with the likes of Mumbai, Vidarbha, Bengal, Chandigarh, Saurashtra, and, Pondicherry. As many as 37 teams are participating in the ongoing Senior Women's T20 tournament and have been divided into two groups consisting of eight teams each and three groups of seven sides each.
Apart from Vizag, the competition is being held across five other cities- Guwahati, Bengaluru, Surat, Mumbai, and, Vizianagaram respectively. Coming back to the bus accident, the police reportedly confirmed that the players are doing fine. Baroda locked horns with Saurashtra team at Dr. P.V.G. Raju ACA Sports Complex, Vijayanagaram ( Andhra Pradesh) on October 20 wherein they emerged victorious by seven wickets.
Now, it remains to be seen how soon will the injured players get fit as the group stages near its business end and whether the Baroda team look for immediate replacement options.
