Team India has had a remarkable run in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 so far having remained the only unbeaten team in the marquee event. Both the batters and bowlers alike have performed well in crunch situations to get the time over the line along with some see-saw battles. However, among them, one thing has remained constant which is Virat Kohli's sublime form with the bat. Kohli has been tormenting the opposition with his batting masterclasses along with showing his brilliant fitness by running doubles and quick singles more often than not. Interestingly enough, the secret to his mind-boggling fitness which has kept the 'run machine' going in the ongoing World Cup has been finally revealed.
Notably, during the Indian team's stays in various cities, while playing their league fixtures, the chefs of top hotel chains have tried their best to keep all the teams' nutritional needs on top and have been cooking some sumptuous yet healthy meals. To this, the Indian cricket team was no exception either. While several players have their own nutritional plans and needs, fans and cricket experts are often curious about Virat Kohli's diet which has transformed him into a 'run machine'.
In the same vein, Anshuman Bali, the renowned chef of the hotel Leela Palace revealed most Indian players prefer having food which are high in protein and carbohydrates and it remains the same even for the ongoing ODI World Cup. Bali further spilt the beans on the type of dishes the players are getting their hands on. From grilled fish to various varieties of chicken, the chef has ensured to keep the taste buds and health of players as the top priority. Interestingly enough, Virat Kohli has been eating only vegetarian food for quite a long time as part of his strict fitness regime.
The star batter had turned vegan after getting inspired by some top athletes around the world and has adhered to being a 'vegan' in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. Kohli has been eating steamed food coupled with soya-based dishes which are not high in dairy elements. Hence, the Delhi-based batter has been eating some sumptuous Tofu along with steamed dim sums and foods which contain lean proteins. Therefore, it is safe to say these foods have helped him in keeping him in supreme fitness.
"The buffet has all kinds of meat but the players opt for steamed or grilled chicken or fish. Virat doesn't eat meat and so we went for steamed foods, like vegetarian dim sums, and other vegetable-based proteins, like soya, mock meats, and lean proteins, like tofu for him. We include as little dairy as possible in his meals," Bali was quoted as saying by Times Of India (TOI).
