Star Indian batter, Virat Kohli, couldn't stop laughing after watching his 14-year-old post-match interview from the 2011 Indian Premier League. The clip featured a young Kohli collecting his first-ever IPL Player of the Match award after a fine knock of 56 runs off 38 deliveries against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).

The 22-year-old stole the show in front of his home crowd in Delhi to help Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) chase down 162 while stitching a partnership with Chris Gayle. However, it was not the innings that caught his attention 14 years later, but his own remarks from the post-match interview.

"To be honest, I did not plan to bat like that. But when I started to hit the ball well, I took charge from Chris. That was the plan in the middle so that he could play himself in, and I could go for my shots because I was hitting it well," he said in the old interview.

After hearing this, the veteran batter smiled at what he said and was left embarrassed. He pointed out at his misunderstanding back then and the power of social media which has helped fans reflect back the old interviews and analyse them.

"I don't even know what I said. You guys brought it here from somewhere. Chris could play himself in? Waah! Galat fehmi dekh lo (Look at the misunderstanding)! Since the social media boom, fans have started analysing players' quotes, which has become way too twisted," he said on '18 Calling 18' on JioHotstar.

RCB to lock horns with DC on April 10

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old in the ongoing season has scored 164 runs in four innings, including two fifties at a strike rate of 154.70. As RCB  prepare to face Delhi Capitals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday, Kohli is on the brink of yet another feat.

If he scores at least 50 runs, he will become the first Indian and second player overall (after David Warner) to notch 100 T20 half-centuries. Furthermore, with 13,050 T20 runs in 403 matches, he is only the fifth player ever, and the first Indian, to cross the 13,000-run mark in T20s. Furthermore, the batting maestro currently has 998 boundaries (720 fours and 278 sixes) in the IPL and needs just two more to become the first player to smash 1,000 boundaries in the tournament’s history.
