Flamboyant batter Rinku Singh smashed 53 runs off just 29 deliveries in the second T20I against Bangladesh in Delhi. He started the innings with a cluster of boundaries but slowed down slightly when Nitish Kumar Reddy was smacking the Bangladesh bowlers all around the park. After Reddy's dismissal, Rinku resumed the attack and completed his half-century with a six over keeper’s head.

India lost three early wickets and a big partnership was the need of the hour. That is when Rinku and Nitish joined hands and did the job to perfection. Both cricketers complemented each other well and played an anchor whenever the other one attacked. They stitched a 108-run partnership, which put Bangladesh on the backfoot as India went on to score 221.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led side once again had a terrific day with the ball, restricting Bangladesh to merely 135 runs, and winning the game by a massive 86 runs. After the game, Rinku opened up on his blistering knock and stated that the head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar gave all the players the freedom to express themselves.

“The coach and captain have asked us to play our game and whatever the situation (is), the message from them is maarte jao ball ko (just keep hitting the ball). (The) coach has asked us to back ourselves and play your game. He has given us full freedom to hit the ball,” Rinku said in the post-match press conference.

Rinku reveals mindset while batting at different positions

Rinku, who usually plays as a finisher, came out to bat inside the powerplay in the second T20I against Bangladesh thanks to the loss of early wickets. Speaking on the same, the Aligarh-born cricketer mentioned that when he is comes out to bat early, he focuses mostly on singles and doubles to put the bowler under pressure. He added that if he plays as a finisher, then he aims to deal in boundaries.

“At the position I play, I get batting at different junctures of the game. Whenever I get batting earlier, my aim is to take singles and doubles and attack the bad balls. When I come to bat with 2-3 overs left, my aim is to hit more fours and sixes. My main aim is to collect more and more runs for the team,” he added.
