Former India player Gautam Gambhir has laid massive praise on Virat Kohli, saying his knock of 183 runs against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2012 eclipses double centuries from Rohit Sharma.

Gambhir remarked that the magnitude of Kohli's knock; given the pressure of the match, the pressure of the chase, the quality of the bowling attack and India's poor start in that game, make Kohli's knock better than some double centuries created after that.

Gambhir made this remark during the rain break during the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match.

Watch Gautam Gambhir's praising Virat Kohli's knock here:

Kohli played this brilliant innings during India's Asia Cup clash with Pakistan in 2012. The right-hand batter showcased his immense chasing skills after India's poor start in a 330-run chase. Kohli made a sensational 183 off 148 balls with 22 boundaries and one six. The individual brilliance of Kohli allowed India to chase down the target with 13 balls to spare.

Rain spoils day in Colombo

Currently, the India and Pakistan team are locking horns in Asia Cup 2023 at R. Premdasa Stadium in Colombo. India got a high-quality start from Rohit Sharma (56) and Shubman Gill (58) who thwarted all challenges from Pakistan pacers to get India flying out from the start.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul then took charge after both openers fell prey in quick succession. As Kohli and Rahul were getting comfortable on the crease, rain made its onset and with it, all hopes of a full match diminished every minute.

After rain receded, groundsmen got to work and managed to get the field to an acceptable condition. As umpires were getting ready to do an inspection of the ground, the rain came back to play spoilsport yet again. Given the time it took to dry up the ground the first time, the match referee called off the match.

The India vs Pakistan match was then moved to the Reserve Day; September 11th after covers were brought on for the second time of the day.
