Geoff Allardice, Greg Barclay are in Pakistan at the moment discussing number of areas with PCB hierarchy: Wasim Khan

Wasim Khan, general manager of the International Cricket Council (ICC), revealed the details of the official's visit to Pakistan. On Tuesday (May 30), ICC chairman Greg Barclay and chief executive Geoff Allardice will arrive in Lahore for a two-day visit, during which they will meet with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi.

Wasim stated that the visit would be centered on Pakistan's participation in the forthcoming Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. Notably, the PCB hinted that they will not compete in the 50-over World Cup after India decided not to visit Pakistan for the upcoming 2023 Asia Cup.

"That's something that's obviously ongoing at the moment," Wasim said during a virtual press conference on Monday as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

Khan, the previous PCB CEO, emphasized that the chairman and CEO will be discussing various issues with the PCB hierarchy. He also stated that it is up to the relevant parties and the ICC hierarchy to consider and reach a final decision.

"Geoff Allardice, our CEO, and Greg are in Pakistan at the moment discussing a number of areas with the PCB hierarchy. But that's certainly up to the two countries and the hierarchy within the ICC to discuss them and come to some conclusions," the former PCB CEO added.

There will also be discussions on the planned financial distribution scheme during the visit by top ICC officials. Notably, PCB are not happy with the proposed new revenue distribution scheme for international cricket, albeit it recognizes that India should receive the biggest share.

"We are insisting that the ICC should tell us how these figures were arrived at. We are not happy with the situation as it stands. Come June, when the board is expected to approve the financial model unless these details are provided to us, we are not going to approve it," Sethi had said earlier in May.

The global governing body of cricket has proposed a new revenue-sharing model for the 2024-27 cycle which will be voted at the board meeting in June. According to ESPNCricinfo, India would receive 38.5% while England and Australia would receive 6.89% and 6.25%, respectively. Pakistan, on the other hand, are expected to receive 5.75% of the ICC's estimated earnings.
