Guyana is getting ready to host South America's first standalone cricket tournament, the Global Super League (GSL), which runs from November 26 to December 7. The one-of-a-kind T20 event will witness five reputed teams from different parts of the world, battling it out for an impressive prize money of USD 1 million.
Cricket Victoria recently announced its participation for the tournament and subsequently named a 14-man squad led by USA all-rounder Corey Anderson. The 33-year-old has represented New Zealand in the past. He has also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for some top teams, including Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Cricket Victoria will be playing four group matches at the Providence Stadium in Guyana with the top two teams qualifying for the summit clash on December 7.
Australian batter Jonathan Wells and West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Jahmar Hamilton are some of the more established names in the squad. They also have USA internationals like Sanjay Krishnamurthi, Karima Gore and Juanoy Drysdale in the mix. Meanwhile, Netherlands captain Scott Edwards is another player who could make a huge impact in the tournament.

BBL-winning coach Wade Seccomb to be in charge of Cricket Victoria
Former Australian cricketer Wade Seccomb has been appointed as the coach of Victoria. He was the coach of Brisbane Heat when they won the Big Bash League (BBL) title earlier this year. The 53-year-old is the current T20 Performance Manager for the Melbourne Renegades.

Cricket Victoria will start their campaign in GSL 2024 on Friday, November 29, when they take on Guyana Amazon Warriors. Lahore Qalandars (Pakistan Super League), Hampshire CCC (England County Cricket), and Rangpur Riders (Bangladesh Premier League) are the other teams who will be featuring in the tournament.
