Hampshire Hawks recently announced their squad for the first standalone cricket event which will be fully sanctioned by Cricket West Indies, in collaboration with the governement of Guyana who is a key stakeholder in the tournament.
The 14-member side, of which a couple of members are yet to be confirmed by the franchise, will be led by left-arm medium pacer, Chris Wood. A handy death-over specialist, Wood is also a canny proponent with the new ball. The T20 specialist has played 200-plus 20-over games and was recently part of Grand Cayman Jaguars in the MAX60 Caribbean.
Another prominent name in the lineup is former England international, Liam Dawson. Although the former U-19 captain could never make it big in the international arena, the spin-bowling all-rounder is a well-established presence in franchise tournaments all around the globe. A six-year-long association with England saw him feature in only 20 internationals across formats, before he indicated that he did not want to be running drinks for England, and would rather prioritize making himself a constant feature in franchise competitions.

Cape Town-born James Fuller is another seasoned campaigner in the Hawks' roster. With the world of T20 experience in his repertoire, the bustling all-rounder would be anticipated to make a genuine impact to the side. Most of the squad consists of uncapped players who have yet to represent the nation. Among those, are 23-year-old top-order batter, Ali Orr, and 21-year-old right-arm fast medium, Sonny Baker, who are the ones to watch out for.
All of the tournament's matches will be played in Guyana. Hawks will open their GSL 2024 campaign with a clash against Rangpur Riders. The second and third of the Hawks' fixtures will be played on consectutive days over the weekend (November 30 and December 1).
