Indian batters looked extremely unsettled in the recently concluded series against New Zealand. There were moments of brilliance from Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill and Sarfaraz Khan but overall, the batting performance was not up to the standard, resulting in a 3-0 series defeat at home. Since then, their preparation for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy is under the scanner as India need to win 4-0 in the series to seal their spot in the upcoming World Test Championship final.

Speaking on the same, former India captain Kapil Dev advised the batters to practice more and work on their basics. He noted that sitting in the room won’t help the players to get back to their feet and instead of that they should train hard ahead of the Australia series, slated to begin on November 22.

“Go back to the basics. Practice and practice and practice. If you say I will improve by sitting in the room, then it is not going to happen. If you are going through a rough time, just practice more. The more you practice, the better it will be for you,” Kapil told CricketNext.

Had I played golf while playing cricket, I would have scored at least 1000-2000 runs: Dev

Meanwhile, after retiring from cricket, the 1983 World Cup-winning captain has found a new passion in golf and plays regularly in the Delhi NCR region. He stated that golf helped him concentrate better and believes that had he played the sport before, the 65-year-old would have scored more runs in international cricket.

“I think concentration mein improvement aati hai (by playing golf). If I tell you something, had I played golf while playing cricket, I would have scored at least 1000-2000 runs. Because in golf the focus is for one second when you hit the ball, and it’s the same in cricket too. It complements each other," he added.
