The match no. 51 of the ongoing Indian Premier League is set to see the clash between the Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans and the Krunal Pandya-led Lucknow Super Giants at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 7.
The game will also witness the first time in the history of the cash-rich league when two brothers will take on each other while leading their respective sides. The game promises to be a mouthwatering one once it begins but the bromance between two brothers is already brewing in the air and it was there for everyone to see when both had joined each other in the middle for the toss.
Right ahead of the toss, Hardik was seen adjusting Krunal's collar, and his hat and topped it off with a heartwarming hug. At the toss, it was the elder brother who called it right and asked Titans to set a score on the board.
Pressure on Krunal to deliver as leader
While Hardik just seems to have picked up from where he had left in the IPL 2022 season and has been exceptional in terms of marshalling his troops on the field, the onus of captaincy has suddenly fallen on the shoulders of Krunal.
Krunal has been assigned the task to lead Lucknow ever since KL Rahul has been ruled out of the ongoing edition. Rahul is expected to undergo thigh surgery as he injured the same while playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Krunal took charge against four-time champions Chennai Super Kings in match no. 45 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. He had a game to forget with the bat as he was sent back to the dugout for nought off Maheesh Theekshana.
Krunal has leadership experience as he has led his domestic side Baroda in several domestic competitions previously. The game against the defending champions will be a stern test of his skills as skipper and he would look to lead by example.
