The Indian Premier League 2023 has been an action-packed affair so far as fans have witnessed several jaw-dropping matches. The action continued in the T20 extravaganza as Gujarat Titans took on Mumbai Indians in Match 35 on Tuesday, April 25 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. MI captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited GT to bat first.

The decision seemed to be correct initially as they dismissed GT opener Wriddhiman Saha in the third over of the innings to give an early blow to the hosts. MI further picked up the prized scalp of rival captain Hardik Pandya who got holed out to long off against Piyush Chawla in the seventh over.

After the two early wickets, Shubman Gill was looking in fine touch as he brought up his half-century off just 30 balls. Gill and Vijay Shankar added 41 runs for the third wicket off 30 balls and were looking dangerous in the middle.

Kumar Kartikeya rose to the occasion and broke the partnership as he dismissed Gill who hit him straight to Suryakumar Yadav at long-on in the 12th over. In the very next over, Piyush Chawla dismissed Shankar who in a similar fashion as the latter ended up giving an easy catch to Tim David at long-on in pretty much the same manner as Gill was dismissed in the previous over. With two strikes in two overs, MI regained footing in the game as GT were reduced to 101/4 after 12.2 overs.

Gujarat Titans score 207/6 in first innings

However, like the previous fixture against PBKS, MI once again let go of the early advantage as David Miller and Abhinav Manohar took their bowling to the cleaners. The duo was involved in a 71-run stand off just 35 balls and helped their side up the ante during the death overs. Manohar departed after playing a blistering knock of 42 off just 21 balls.

Meanwhile, Miller (46 off 22) and Rahul Tewatia (20* off 5) added 33 runs off just 10 balls to take Gujarat’s innings off to a great finish as they ended up posting a massive 207/6 in the first innings. Piyush Chawla was the pick of the bowlers for MI with figures of 2/34 in his four overs.
