During the ongoing Qualifier Two match between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians, fans witnessed some explosive batting. However, this intense encounter also became a day of injuries for the visiting side. Apart from the toss, things have not been in the favour of the Rohit Sharma-led side. After Shubman Gill belted the MI bowlers all over the park, the visitors also suffered some injury woes. Consequently, during the run chase, the MI batter, Vishnu Vinod, became the first player to play as a concussion substitute in IPL history.

Notably, wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan became a concussion victim after he ended up colliding with his teammate, Chris Jordan while MI were bowling against GT. If this was not enough for the visiting side, the hosts put up a mammoth total of 233/3 on the board. Interestingly enough, Vishnu Vinod made his third appearance for the Mumbai Indians and came in to bat after Cameron Green got cleaned up by Josh Little. However, he could not make an impression with the bat (5 off 7) as he got dismissed in the second last ball of the 15th over by Mohit Sharma.

Furthermore, skipper Rohit Sharma and Australian all-rounder, Green too sustained injuries. Rohit sustained a minor injury on his hand at the end of the 16th over while attempting to take a catch off, Hardik Pandya. While the tall Aussie also suffered a hand injury after taking a blow off Pandya's bowling leading him to retire hurt in the middle of the innings. But later on, he got back to crease again to bat ahead for Mumbai.

The Concussion rule was introduced for the first time Three years back

Notably, the Concussion rule was first introduced in the 2020 edition of the IPL. Speaking of today's riveting encounter, the GT batter, Sai Sudharsan became the second batter in IPL 2023 to get retired out. His innings got curtailed after scoring 43 off 31.

Eventually, GT totally decimated the MI batting lineup, courtesy of a magnificent five-wicket haul from Mohit Sharma in the bowling department which helped the hosts to trump Mumbai by 62 runs to reach the final for the second time.
