GT vs SRH: Shubman Gill-Sai Sudharsan stitch second highest partnership of IPL 2023 to guide Gujarat's assault
Gill and Sudharsan put up 147 runs for the second wicket in the clash against SRH.
In the 62nd Match of IPL 2023, Gujarat Titans hosted Sunrisers Hyderabad in a must-win clash for the latter but executed a season of torment for the visitors as Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan stitched a mammoth 147-run partnership for the second wicket to unleash havoc on the SRH bowling unit.
After the early fall of Wridhhiman Saha on the very third ball of the innings, Gill was joined in the middle by Sudharsan as the duo held its ground for 13.4 overs while unleashing 147 runs in the process. Sudharsan scored 47 runs in 36 balls, courtesy of six fours and a maximum. He was eventually dismissed by Marco Jansen after being caught off T. Natarajan in the 15th over.
However, Gill continued his rampage and went on to score a century off just 58 balls. He hit 13 fours and a solitary maximum to bring up his century. Gill eventually fell prey to Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, but not before inflicting serious damage on the Hyderabad unit.
Notably, the highest partnership of this season was amassed by Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis in the very first match that was played by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2023 season against Mumbai Indians. The duo put up a first-wicket stand of 148 runs to guide RCB to their first victory of the season. Also, Gill and Sudharsan's stand of 147 runs is the highest for the second wicket in the ongoing season of the tournament.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar stars for SRH with a five-wicket haul
While Gill and Sudharsan starred for GT with a stunning partnership, it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar for SRH who brought the team back into the game with a timely five-wicket haul. He also remained strong on the economic front, giving away just 30 runs in four overs.
Kumar delivered the first breakthrough for SRH with the wicket of Wriddhiman Saha on the very third ball of the innings. He then got rid of Pandya and came back to dismiss the dangerous Gill to shift the momentum towards SRH.
Notably, for GT, none of the other batters could score in double-digits as the team eventually halted on a score of 188/9.
