Guyana cricketers Veerasammy Permaul and Kevlon Anderson were imposed heavy fines during a West Indies Championship match which concluded on Saturday, April 12. In the Guyana Harpy Eagles and Trinidad & Tobago Red Force match, Permaul and Anderson were seen mishandling the ball and trying to change its condition. This happened in the seventh and final round, and the duo were handed hefty fines.

The on-field umpires Christopher Taylor and Leslie Reifer Jnr imposed the charge at Queen's Park Oval. Guyana's Permaul was fined 75% of his match fees for a Level 2 breach of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Code of Conduct, while Anderson was fined 90% of his match fees for a similar offence.

As per CWI reports, both players accepted the sanctions by match referee Michael Ragoonath. The offences happened on two different days, on day one by Permaul and on day three by Anderson. Moreover, CWI also informed that the balls were changed after both instances during the match.

Meanwhile, Guyana's Ronaldo Alimohamed was also fined 65% of his match fee for breaching the Article 2.1-2.5 of the code of conduct. The Article states "Throw the ball (or any other item of cricket equipment such as a water bottle) at or near player or official in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner."

The player didn't agree to the offence at first when his fine was 60%. However, he was summoned by the match referee and proved guilty, and then he was fined 65% of his match fee.

Meanwhile, the match was drawn. Guyana finished at the top of the points table with 126.6 points while Barbados came up second with 121.2 points. Guyana did not lose a single match during their campaign and are the winners of the 2024/25 season.
