Harmanpreet Kaur is set to lead India in the highly-anticipated Women's T20 World Cup 2024, which gets underway on Thursday, October 3, with Bangladesh taking on Scotland in Sharjah.

India are placed in Group A alongside Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka. The Women in Blue begin their Women's T20 World Cup campaign on Friday, October 4, as they take on New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Ahead of the tournament, the ICC organised a Captains' Day at the Dubai International Stadium, bringing together all 10 team captains on the eve of the ninth edition of the global competition. During the event, Harmanpreet spoke about the continuous learning process involved in the sport.

"I think that is something we keep learning every day. When you win, sometimes you feel, OK, that is something I have achieved. But the next day, when you play, you may make small mistakes. I think that is part of the game. Learning never stops, every day is a learning day," the Punjab batter was quoted as saying by ICC.

Meanwhile, New Zealand captain Sophie Devine mentioned the amazing developments in women's cricket, both on and off the field.

"The growth in the women's game has been amazing, both on and off the field. You're now seeing bowlers consistently hitting speeds of 120 km/h and more, showing the progress in fitness and skills. We have some promising young fast bowlers whose development over the last 12-18 months has been incredible," Devine stated.

India and New Zealand have faced each other on 13 occasions in the shortest format of the game. The White Ferns have a 9-4 lead in the head-to-head score. They have not faced each other in T20Is since February 2022.
